Rapper-turned-philanthropist, Master P (pka P. Miller) recently revealed plans for a benefit concert for the young victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.
The upcoming concert is set to take place during Super Bowl Weekend, and will assist in rebuilding the country's schools through the I Heart Haiti Kids organization.
As a native of New Orleans, P witness disaster of Hurricane Katrina did to his city, and has since dedicated much of his time towards humanitarian efforts.
"Seeing the process that the Hurricane Katrina victim kids have gone through, I understand the importance of the immediate need to help start the recovering and rebuilding process for education and getting kids back into the school system," Miller explained. "The earthquake has destroyed many schools. I'm teaming up with young entertainers, throwing a concert, and reaching out to young stars that want to make a difference. Kids can get involved and make a difference in Haiti."
With the help of his peers within the hip-hop community, Miller hopes he will start a trend that continues helping Haiti when the media coverage ends.
"This is definitely not an overnight process," Miller said of rebuilding efforts. "This will take several years."The proceeds from Miller's concert will go towards iHeartHaitiKids.org which will help rebuild Haitian schools, donate school supplies and books, hopefully put Haiti's "devastated kids on track to receive a proper education in their recovery process.
"I'm also proud of the way that the hip-hop industry has stepped up with all of the celebrities making a difference," he continued. "Just remember, there are so many kids in Haiti that still need help. Donations big and small, together we can make a difference."
