Things are all set. Two teams are headed to Super Bowl XLIV (44) in Miami on February 7 ... those teams are the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite Lil Wayne's prediction, Brett Favre's Minnesota Vikings were sent home early on Sunday (January 24), as the New Orleans Saints pulled out an overtime win to take them to their first Super Bowl in the franchise's 43-year history.
It was the Saints 31, and Vikings 28, as they won in their home field. Kicker Garrett Hartley made it happen, when he drilled in a 40-yard field goal in overtime, followed by champagne bottles being popped in celebration.
"The city is on its way to recovery, and in a lot of ways, it's come back better than ever," Saints quarterback Drew Brees told the Boston Globe. "For us as a team, we've used the strength and resilience of our fans to go out and play every Sunday [with] the confidence to know we can do it, and achieve everything we set out to achieve.
"It's been one step at a time, it hasn't been easy, we've had to fight through plenty of adversity, just like this city has. But when I look at what this year has meant thus far to this community, not only the regular season, but now the first two playoff games, what it did for the spirit of this city and its people, it's special."
Now, Brees takes on Peyton Mannings' Colts.
In Indianapolis on Sunday, the Colts garnered their largest home crowd ever. And they didn't disappoint them. The team won over the New York Jets, to head back to the Super Bowl for the second time in four years and fourth in franchise history.
Four-time MVP, Peyton Manning, threw for three touchdown passes to rally back from an 11-point, first-half deficit to comeback with the win over the Jets 30-17 during Sunday's AFC championship game.
"We talked about being patient against these guys," Manning told ESPN. "We knew it would be a four-quarter game."
Manning finished the game with 377 passing yards, making him the first player in NFL history with seven 300-yard postseason games. That broke a tie with quarterbacks, Kurt Warner and Joe Montana.
Next is Super Bowl XLIV in two weeks. Who are your rooting for?
