MMA fighter and former WWE superstar, Brock Lesnar, has been out of commission for quite some time, due an ilness that forced him to pull out of UFC 106 in October 2009.

On Wednesday (January 20), UFC president Dana White announced that Lesnar has miraculously recovered from an intestinal disorder, is set to begin training this week, and is slated to fight again this summer.

In an interview with ESPN, the UFC heavyweight champ said he had suffered from diverticulosis, causing him severe abdominal pain.

"I was just feeling sick for the longest time through my training," Lesnar said. The doctors "were dumbfounded," he added, before explaining its severity.

"One night, I woke up in severe shock with a 104 temperature," Lesnar continued. "I had a rupture, which means I had a hole in my stomach. I took antibiotics and pain medication to heal myself or I would have had to remove part of my colon and wear a colonoscopy bag and end my career."

During an 11-day hospital stay, he says he dropped 40 pounds. But said the medical care he received saved his life. However, he said he took a holistic approach to his healing and avoided surgery.

Sitting in on the interview was Dana White, who said Lesnar will likely return in the summer and face the winner of Frank Mir's March 27 bout against Shane Carwin in Newark, N.J.

"Everybody has got life-changing experiences, and this is one of them for me," Lesnar told Minneapolis newspaper, the Star Tribute. "I believe things happen for a reason. It gave me a different perspective on life and my family. I considered myself a healthy human being, and for something like this to happen to me, I need to re-evaluate. I have to make some changes."

Lesnar's last fight was in July 2009, when he TKO'ed Frank Mir with strikes to defend his UFC Heavyweight title.
