Following speculation from bloggers and fans, Electronic Arts (EA) officially announced that the second installment of popular game tile, Dead Space, is currently in development.
Visceral Games, the first version's developer, is working on the sequel, which promises new weapons, monsters, and plot twists.
While not much is revealed about the upcoming Dead Space 2, one of the producers reveal some brief story details.
"We're thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’' journey," executive producer Steve Papoutsis said in the press release. "The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In 'Dead Space 2,' not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you."
The trademark plasma cutter will return, along with other new weapons, said the release.
A date was not given.
