For as far back as I can remember, indie artists have scrutinized radio stations for not supporting local artists, especially in Los Angeles, who has one of the largest stations in the nation with Power 106.

Local L.A. music fans took a stand against that very issue on Black Friday (November 27), which they labeled Black Fridai, with a protest outside the radio station's Burbank, California location, calling for Power 106 to support local artists.

Concerns fans stood outside the offices for hours, leading chants of "We run radio, they don't run us" and "We need change. Support the west."

Also, a few local artists and producers showed up to lend their support as well, including former Black Wall Street affiliate, Techniec (@Techniec), who explained his stance on the lack of local artists on the radio.

"It's not enough leaders out here," the rapper said. "There's no f***in' coincidence that its been the same four, five stars on the west coast for the past 20 years. Some may say that the west coast not on they grind, or the artists not on they grind, but the reality of it is there's a lot of doors that's deliberately being closed."

"It's a big disconnection, especially with the DJs most importantly," added Long Beach bred artist, C-Nice (@CNiceLB). "Because, if you go to other areas, like the south or even the east coast, their ears or more to the streets. They represent, and take pride in that."

@Jay, I got to say amen. You’re 100% right all these gang-banging negroes are cowards, that include these fake bangers[Lil Wayne,Jim Jones,Juelz Satana, etc] real men stand on their own. As far the radio play, every city should give their local artists one hour to themselves.

It ain’t like in the south you hear nothin but local artists. Yeah you hear regional artists but it’s like the same 15 mu’fuckas on the radio everyday. West coast only does one type of sound; gang banging with a parliment funkadelic sound or that gay ass jerkin bull shit. Switch ya shit up and get with the damn times.

umm, that’s because that’s all the RADIO plays. see how it’s one big circle?
if your only source for music is the radio, then all you’ll know is the radio.
