 Our owner Jay Casteel was recently profiled in a recent issue of Hip Hop Weekly, for their Web Watch Feature, and now XXL is recognizing BallerStatus.com as one of the Top 100 Hip-Hop Websites.
In their upcoming December/January year-end doubleissue, XXL runs down a list of their Top 100 picks for hip-hop websites, naming a number of blogs, online magazines, and even artists' social networks.
In addition to BallerStatus.com being listed, others include some of our own faves such as SoulAssassins.com, NahRight, Bossip, ConcreteLoop, RapRadar, and ThisIs50.com, among others.
According to a post from 2DopeBoyz, the XXL list is not ranked, and is listed in alphabetical order. So, there's no precedence in being listed over another.
Earlier this year, Vibe.com ran a ranked list of their Top 50 Rap Blogs, and received a lot of backlash for their picks and the positions some sites were listed in by fans and bloggers a like.
Looks like XXL stayed away from that.
Although they listed BallerStatus.net, instead of our new .COM, it's ok. It's all the same. We switched to .COM a long time ago, and it looks like they've been fans for quite some time. Anyhow, on behalf of the BallerStatus.com staff, we'd like to thank XXL for the nod, and for their continued support of the hip-hop culture.
The upcoming issue features 50 Cent on its cover, and includes stories on the "Dueling Eye Candies of the Year," a feature on Snoop Dogg, and covers the five-year anniversary deaths of late rappers Mac Dre and Ol' Dirty Bastard.
The issue hits news stands on December 1st.
