New Boyz Cancel Free Michigan Concert Due To Unruly Crowd
Published 11/10/2009 · By Ronnie Gamble

New BoyzLos Angeles duo, the New Boyz, were forced to cancel a concert in Flint, Michigan over the weekend, after their crowd got unruly and fights began to break out.

According to TheBoomBox.com, the teen duo were booked for a free concert at the Genesee Valley Center, a mall with a capacity of 300, but a reported 1,500 people showed.

The large crowd began forming at around noon for the 4 p.m. concert on Sunday (November 8), causing crowding, which turned into shoving and fighting.

"It was crazy," said an eyewitness. "Some kids started fighting, while others kept getting on stage."

A mall employee said fans rushed the stage, grabbing speakers and tossing them into the crowd. During the madness, one person was stabbed with a pen, while another suffered a seizure.

Details regarding the victims' conditions were unknown at press time.

The New Boys -- consisting of Ben J and Legacy -- were also expected to sign autographs, but weren't able to. They left the stage when the crowd got out of control, and were reportedly chased by fans.

"Our mall performance in Flint was so big it was on the news just now," Ben J tweeted shortly after.

The New Boyz are most known for their breakout hit, "You're a Jerk," off their debut album, Skinny Jeanz & A Mic, out now.

They should have expected more people than what they had guessed. All of the madness came from it being so many people there. Not enough security or room. That was a mall not an arena or venue. If they are going to do stuff like that they need to plan a whole lot better.

here in the worst place to live in america(FLINT). were are (and always will be) the murder capital. in michigan everything is run underground by the urban youth scene(n*ggaz). some of ur favorite rappres, entertainers, ballers, ect. have been extorted, robbed and killed here. if u aint real dont show. this is not sunny hollywood or broadway. trust me. there’s some good folks, but not many. killers raising killers its sad. but when in rome….. google us …murder michigan or Flint

they were stupid 4 having a concert at a mall. we have perani arena. but no lets be cheap. im a barber & the kids said the new boyz were schld 4 noon & showed up at 3.then they acted like they were too good to sighn a few autographs. they new a million kids would show up. they should have had security instead of police scaring a bunch of kids.

Man, I’m sorry but I have to agree with Vengence, this is just a fad, the same people who were all, “I love you Soulja Boy” are the same people who are sayin, “fuck Soulja Boy” now and now they’re ridin on these fools. Industry companies know, just put out a song and a dance, thats all you need to make millions. I bet you that New Boys doesn’t own anything legally, if they’re contract were to be terminated.
