 Rihanna is starting to open up about the Chris Brown assault from earlier this year. While she'll make her first televised interview with "Good Morning America" on Thursday (November 5), she's also gave Glamour magazine some exclusives as well.
Rihanna was named Woman of the Year by the mag this week, and in the new issue's cover story talks about Breezy.
"It has taught me so much," Rihanna told the mag of the assault and its aftermath. "I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day. It was like, 'What, there are helicopters circling my house? There are 100 people in my cul-de-sac? What do you mean, I can't go back home?' "
She also discusses the widely distributed photo of herself, bruised and bloodied, which was taken shortly after the assault. RiRi said it being leak humiliated her.
"That is not a photo you would show to anybody," she says. "I felt completely taken advantage of ... like people were making it into a fun topic ... and it's my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women."
These's types of topics are the reason why her upcoming album, Rated R, is so dark in content, specifically the lead single "Russian Roulette," where on the chorus she sings "Take the gun, count to three ... " then "I'm terrified, but I'm not leaping / I know I must pass this test, so just pull the trigger."
In fact, she calls the upcoming album "super fearless."
"I put everything I've wanted to say for the past eight months into my music," Rihanna explains. "The songs are really personal. It's rock and roll, but it's really hip-hop ... I would not change anything about it. Even if people don't love it, I made exactly the piece of art that I wanted to make. It's super fearless -- which is exactly how I feel right now. I am in a really good place."
Rated R is slated to drop November 23rd.
Her "Good Morning America" interview airs on Thursday (November 5), and on "20/20" on Friday (November 6).
