Birdman and Lil Wayne Sued For Copyright Infringement

Birdman and Lil WayneLil Wayne and Birdman are being sued by a Florida man who says the two artists used his voice on a track off their 2006 collabo effort, Like Father, Like Son.

According to the Associated Press, Thomas Marasciullo filed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday (October 30) in a Manhattan courtroom, naming both rappers, their label Cash Money Records, and various distribution companies.

He claims the label had him record some "Italian-styled spoken word recordings" in 2006, and then used them without pay or permission on the track "Respect," as well as other tracks featured on the 2006 album, and Birdman's 2007 solo album, 5 (Star) Stunna.

On the track "Loyalty", you can hear Marasciullo's voice saying: "The main name in this game is respect and loyalty. Family is a big thing. When we do this kind of business, everything is with respect."

The lawsuit says Marasciullo's recordings were used in four tracks on Life Father, Like Son, and five on 5 (Star) Stunna.

He seeks unspecified damages.

Reps for both Cash Money Records and Universal Music Group were not available for comment at press time.
