Busta Rhymes Ordered To Pay Out $75,000 in 2003 Assault Case
Published 10/17/2009 · By Allen Starbury

Busta RhymesBusta Rhymes finally received an outcome for a 2003 assault case of a fan in Upstate New York during a hearing on Wednesday (October 14), with a judge ruling in the favor of the victim.

According to reports, the rapper (real name: Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr) has been ordered to fork over $75,000 to 32-year-old Alex Duncan for attacking him back in September 2003, following a concert at SUNY Albany.

Duncan claimed that he's experienced numerous nightmares and suffered severe psychological trauma following the incident, in which Busta alleged punched him in the face and pummelled him with bottles with the assistance of his bodyguard.

He further claimed that the assault has hindered his ability to have a normal social life because of the constant inquiries from friends and associates.

"It's all right," Duncan said of the judgement. "I wanted something to come out of it. I don't even go to parties anymore, because there's always someone asking, 'What happened to that Busta Rhymes case?' "

His lawyer originally requested a sum of $500,000 to settle the case.

Busta, or his legal team, has commented on the court's decision.
