Dipset's JR Writer Details Recent Shooting -- Says He's OK
Published 10/14/2009, by Allen Starbury

JR WriterOver the weekend, Dipset affiliate JR Writer was shot in New York, but is ok today and thankful to be alive. At the time, not much was known about the shooting, aside from a few Twitter updates, revealing his condition.

This week, in an interview with XXL online, the rapper revealed some details into what happened that Saturday night (October 10).

"I was in front of the studio I been recording out of for the past three months in the Bronx, when two bum ass n****s stepped to me and a couple of my dudes with guns," Writer told the mag. "For what? I still have no idea."

According to Writer, after being shot, he contemplating whether he should play dead or not, but chose to run as the shooter began to let off shots at his friends. When the assailant realized Writer was getting away, he began to chase after him.

"When we saw the look on his face and heard him say 'Now what, what now?', it sounded more like a beef then anything else, so we got up out of there," the rapper explained. "That's when he let off two shots our way, which, one of the shots hit me and I dropped. He then starting shooting at my peoples and running towards them. When I saw that I was gonna play dead but I said 'Hell no' and picked myself up and got across the street where my n**** Plat was running back towards my way. The shooter looks back and sees me limpin' across the street with my n**** Plat and starts runnin' towards us like he was going to finish me off till he heard police sirens and ran off."

After being hit, Writer was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for his wounds. Today, he's at home recovering.

"I am doing OK now, just trying to recover," Writer said. "The doctor says I was lucky the shot didn't hit any major artery or bones. It went through the back of my thigh and exited through the front. It was a .45, so that would of really f***ed me up."

Despite the setback, he's anxious to get back to the music. Writer says he's recorded a lot of music, and his new mixtape, Cinecrack 2.0verdrive will be coming soon, along with his next studio album.

"I got about 80 joints done so expect to see me back in the mix ASAP on my Tupac sh**," he concluded.
