The new single comes from SoulStice and SBe who put out a dope album and constantly crank out great music for our format.  SoulStice does the best describing this concept record from his album, Beyond Borders which is in stores: "Homophobia has been an undeniable theme in hip hop.  However, hip hop music and culture has always had great potential to fuel progressive movement in society.  As a hip hop artist and as an individual I aim to help move us in the direction of social progress.  "Strange Kinda Love" is from Beyond Borders, an international concept album I put together with Belgian beatsmith, SBe.  Monique Harcum sings the hook.  As it turns out, Monique is originally from Philly but moved to Belgium to marry a Belgian DJ that she met on tour.  Myself and Monique are both part of mixed race couples, adding to the significance of the collaboration.  I called her long distance from Maryland to explain the song idea to her.  She resonated with it.  Then, when I told her that the song would be called “Strange Kinda Love," her immediate response was “but we don’t think our love is strange.”  My response: “exactly.”

Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ Burnz has a vision that extends beyond trying to make a catchy radio single and pulls his music inspiration from a wide variety of artists ranging from: Redman, DMX, 2Pac and Nas, all the way to John Coltrane, and Billie Holiday. His roots go back to the origin of The Zone’s (AZ) music scene in the notorious stomping grounds of, Maryvale -one of West Phoenix’s grittiest neighborhoods. He was fortunate enough to be introduced to the culture at a young age through his older brother/mentor, Pound (R.I.P.) one of The Zone’s first producers that helped establish the local urban scene in the late 1980’s through the early 90’s. Burnz is currently recording his debut LP, which will feature Crooked I, Styles P, DMX, Spider Loc and Hot Rod among others.

The time has finally come. After years of touring and building buzz, iLL-literacy is preparing the release their debut musical effort, IB4the1 ("I Before The One"). The album will be released in three separate pieces, which the group refers to as "chapters." Each chapter will be released for free online six months apart. With the first chapter, IB4the1.1, quickly approaching, iLL-Literacy is proud to release the lead single, "Gentlemans Kool-Aid," a sample-inspired, bass-driven, electro-gospel-funk track reminiscent of a 'shroom trip in audio form.
