The Charts: Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 Dethroned By New Pearl Jam Album

2009-08-20 - Blueprint 3 cover Jay-ZA new album frm Pearl Jam dethroned Jay-Z from the top of the Billboard 200 in his third week, but he still managed to sell well enough to come in second.

In at no. 2 this week is Jay's new effort, The Blueprint 3, selling 134,000 copies, as he closes in on the platinum mark. Right now, he's at 908,000 copies sold.

A couple spots later, at no. 4, is Whitney Houston's comeback album, I Look To You. It sold 66,000 copies.

Then, to close out the top 10 is Drake's So Far Gone EP, pushing another 36,000 copies.

Much later down the line, a new release from Sean Kingston. The new album, titled Tomorrow, sold just 13,000 copies to start.

According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Sept. 27) totaled 5.93 million units, down 8% compared to the sum last week (6.43 million) and down 8% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (6.46 million).
