The animated flick, "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," took last weekend's box office, and continued its reign this weekend, by sweeping all movies again to remain at the #1 spot.
The animated 3D film by Sony raked in another $24.6 million for its second straight win at the box office. So far, it's raised its domestic haul to $60 million after 10 days in theaters.
"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" did well enough to fend off the release of Bruce Willis' new action thriller "Surrogates," which debuted at #2 with $15 million.
"Surrogates" reportedly cost $80 million to produce, and with such a slow start -- a blow to Disney's expectations.
"I don't think this was a great moviegoing weekend, for whatever reason," Chuck Viane, head of distribution for Disney, told the Associated Press. "I'm disappointed we're not #1, but very happy we beat the other films we opened against."
Then, coming in third with $10 million, was the MGM's musical drama "Fame," a new take on the 1980s music and dance hit about students at a school for performing arts.
"Informant!," a Steven Soderbergh flick starring Matt Damon, landed at #4 with $6.9 million, while "Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself" rounded out the top 5 with $4.8 million.
As for other new releases, the sci-fi horror "Pandorum," opened at #6 with $4.4 million, while Michael Moore's documentary "Capitalism: A Love Story" opened strongly in limited release with a $240,000 weekend haul in just four theaters. "Capitalism" expands nationwide Friday.
Next weekend, watch out for new flicks like the fantasy comedy "The Invention of Lying," the re-release of "Toy Story 2" in 3D, the comedy "Whip It," and the horror comedy "Zombieland."
This weekend's top 10 is as follows:
