For the second week in a row, Jay-Z owns the Billboard 200 with his latest album, The Blueprint 3, while Whitney Houston, Kid Cudi, Drake and Lil Boosie all land within the top 10.
Jay's new album sold another 298,000 copies in its second week, putting his total sales at over gold status and climbing for platinum with 774,000 copies sold so far.
Right behind Jay, in at no. 2, is Whitney Houston's comeback album, I Look To You. The album climbed one spot with 156,000 copies sold, up 77% from last week. The increase in sales came thanks to her two-day appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which turns everything to gold. In just three weeks, she's sold 548,000 copies.
In at no. 4 is Kid Cudi's debut album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, selling 104,000 copies to start. The album's sales are fueled by hit singles such as "Day 'N' Nite"and "Make Her Say".
A couple spots down, Drake makes his top 10 debut with his seven-song EP, So Far Gone. The album, which was originally released as a free mixtape, sold a staggering 73,000 copies. His full-length debut is set for early 2010.
Behind Drake is Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie, who's new album Superbad lands at no. 7 with 49,000 copies sold.
To close out the top 10 is the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D., selling another 40,000 copies.
Outside the top tier we have a few more new releases.
At no. 34, Trick Daddy is back with Finally Famous: Born A Thug, Still A Thug, selling just 13,000 copies.
The Los Angeles based duo, New Boyz, entered the Billboard 200 a no. 56 with their debut album, Skinny Jeanz & A Mic, which opens with 10,000 units scanned.
And, closing out the entire list at no. 200, with the collaborative effort between KRS-One and Buckshot titled Survival Skills. The new project sold 8,400 copies.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Sept. 20) totaled 6.42 million units, down 4% compared to the sum last week (6.71 million) and down 7% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (6.92 million).
