Eminem's Copyright Case With Apple Going To Trial
Published 09/24/2009, by Miles Bennett

EminemApple Inc. and Eminem's music publisher have failed to settle a dispute over 93 of the rapper's songs on their digital music store iTunes, so it looks like it'll go to trial.

According to the Associated Press, settlement talks were going on Wednesday (September 23), but a deal wasn't reached, thus Em's publishing company Eight Mile Style LLC will head to trial with the computer giant.

Eight Mile claims they never authorized the sale of 93 songs available on iTunes in downloadable format, and are alleging copyright infringement.

However, Apple says they have a valid agreement with Aftermath Records, which controls the Em tracks in questions, thus giving them the right to sell them.

A trail is set to begin Thursday morning (September 24).

Just a cash grab, IMHO.

“What goes around comes around” says Tracy Sipp Stylist of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

That is truly point to be made when they go to court. There is a lot to be said about initial agreements that are not fully scrutinized. It should be very interesting to see what happens in court.

If I could have the royalties for just one even obscure Eminem track, I’d probably be rich. Just imagine what $$ those 93 songs probably generate…

WOW THIS IS HUGE! AND THEY DID’NT SETTLE. SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO STAND TRIAL I WOULD HAVE MY ATTORNEY’S LOOK AT THE CONTRACT THEY HAVE IN WRITTING WITH AFTERMATH.
THIS THING IS GONNA GET UGLY AT TRIAL AND IN TRIALS WE KNOW THEY WILL ONLY HAVE ONE VICTORY WINNER.
AND IF SHADY WINS THE NUMBERS WILL BE HUGE, HUGE!!!!!!

well alright... - September 26, 2009 at 10:47 am
