While en route to Denver, where he was scheduled to peform, Del The Funky Homosapien was injured in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

The Bay Area rapper -- known as a founding member of the Hieroglphyics -- was traveling from Colorado Springs to Denver, when their SUV was struck by a drunk driver traveling in a Ford Expedition.

Del was said to be sleeping at the time of impact, but not driving. He and his crew suffered minor injuries, Del taking it the worse.

"Luckily it hit us back center, so after impact it projected us forward. If the SUV hit us from any slight angle, we would have flipped and I may not be writing this to you guys," Bukue, of Del's camp, wrote on his Myspace page (MySpace.com/DelTheFunkyHomosapien). "All of our safe. Sore, but good. Del was in the very back and took the hardest impact. Ambulance had to take him in to get him checked, but x-rays came out negative."

The drunk driver fled the scene.

As a result of the accident, the rapper canceled his Denver tour date, but plans to make it up in November.
