Just one day after receiving backlash for storming the MTV VMAs stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, Kanye West has announced that he plans to take some time off.
During an appearance on the "Jay Leno Show," the talkshow host asked the rapper/producer what his mother Donda West -- who died from complications from plastic surgery in November 2007 -- would have thought of the VMAs incident, to which an emotional West revealed the news.
"You know, obviously, I deal with hurt and, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off," West responded following his extended pause. "And I've never taken the time off, just music after music and tour after tour, and I'm ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt.
"My dream of what awards show were supposed to be caused ... I don't try to justify it 'cause I was in the wrong. After this, I need to just take some time off and analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life, how I'm going to improve, because I am a celebrity and that's just something I'm going to have to deal with," he continued
When West grabbed the mic outta young Taylor Swift's hand on that stage, he -- in so many words -- said Beyonce should've won. Thus, ruining her moment.
West admitted that his actions were out of line, and hopes to apologize to the 19-year-old in-person sometime soon.
"Soon as I gave the mic back to her and she didn't keep going," he admitted of when he realized he was wrong, before adding: "Dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist -- or from anyone -- because I only wanted to help people.
"Actually someone's emotions that I stepped on and it was very ... it was rude, period. I'd like to be able to apologize to her in person," West continued.

Ol boy should’ve took a break after Graduation and before droppin that 808’s bullshit. But I’ll give it up to him since he’s man enough to apologize. The look on Swift’s face was heartbreaking. Dude was just kissin the cognac too hard but this gonna blow over in due time.
Kanye was only supposed to perform on Leno lastnight but the backlash was so severe that he had to use the platform to try and make things right. First thing, Kanye was arrogant and way too proud before his mother died so don’t use that as an excuse. However, since his mother died, it’s been one thing after the next. He looked like a bad stereotype that night, with the Henny in hand and looking unkept with Amber looking like she was at a porn convention. I doubt his mother would be proud!!!!
He is apologetic because he is getting so much negative attention. This isn’t the first time he has done this so no one should have been surprised by his actions. Every time he has interrupted someone else’s moment he was wrong.
Who cares, it’s an fn awards show. The economy is crumbling, peeps are losing their jobs, 2 wars in the middle east and this is the big news…the black media needs to represent what’s important.
