T-Pain Clarifies Jay-Z Diss In Las Vegas -- Says He, Jay-Z and Fabolous Have No Beef
Published 09/09/2009, by Allen Starbury

T-PainOver the weekend, T-Pain went on a tirade, dissing Jay-Z during a pool party at Rehab in Las Vegas. However, the singer says there is no beef and that he just "bugged out" that day.

During an interview with Ed Lover on Power 105.1 in New York this week, Pain explained the situation and said he and Jay-Z are cool.

"I'm definitely cool with Jay. I bugged out that day," the singer said. "It was people in the crowd saying 'Yo Jay-Z destroyed you', as I'm doing an acapella track. I do acapella tracks to show people that I don't need auto-tune, and then you [got the disses] and five people throwing up the Dynasty sign..."

T-Pain goes on to explain a few different situations he's experienced with Jay-Z since he dropped his infamous "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" single, which had Pain confused and frustrated more than anything.

"This is what happened: we was talking about it the whole day. I called Jay and I said 'Yo, can you come out on my set, at the stadium, and do the 'D.O.A.' song? It'd be a big look for me and you. I praised the song, I love the song,' " Pain said. "At that time, he said 'I'm triple booked. I'm in Switzerland right now. I can't do it. I'm doing three shows in Switzerland right now.' Then, I'm getting ready to go onstage ... I'm ready to go and they like 'Hold on, Jay-Z's about to come out with Jeezy.' I'm like 'Jay-Z's in Switzerland!' They're like 'No he's not, he's right there.' I look and there's Jay-Z.

"We got on the stage and then, the line in the song where he says 'I don't need nobody smiling at this', he pointed at me. At the end of the song, when I tried to shake his hand, he turned around and said 'Good riddance.' I'm like 'Wow,' he continued.

The incident he's talking about is when Jay-Z performed at Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert back in June, and brought T-Pain onstage as he performed "D.O.A." While many took their appearance onstage as a sign that the pair were cool, the singer saw the evening in a whole different light.

"Me, personally, I didn't see it from that perspective," he said. "I tried to shake his hand and he turned around, gave the mic to somebody else and said 'Good riddance.' ... I'm feeling like 'Wow this guy really don't like me, or he don't like what I'm doing.'

"The whole thing [with his manager], he told me 'Come on stage, doing your thing. Stand there, and just chill with Jay while he do the song.' That's the same thing I wanted him to do when I asked him to go on my set. Fantastic, that's great. The next day, he went to the other station and said 'Yo I don't know who it was, I thought it was a fan.' My thought process is like 'Yo brother, the fruit of Islam is up there. Islam's security and you got Jeezy's security. Why would they let a fan up there?' " T-Pain questioned.

Despite all the confusion and the release of the track, T-Pain says he's never had a problem. He's only been upset because Jay-Z has never said that he WASN'T dissing him.

However, he said the rapper finally cleared it up this week and now they are cool. He and Fabolous always squashed their differences as well, after Fab tweeted about the Jay-Z diss from Vegas.

"Only problem I really did have with it was that he never really clarified if he was talking about me or not. He did clear it up, yesterday, and I feel a lot better," T-Pain concluded. "Neither me, nor him, got time to be going through his beef crap. I'm a fan of Jay-Z's and I'mma always be a fan of Jay-Z's. Me and [Fabolous] talked today and he apologized. ... It was just too much."

So, everyone thinking T-Pain was planning a campaign against Jay-Z, think again. That is, unless, they both agree to it behind the scenes.

If that happens, then you just might see a beef between the two artists.

"The best way to have someone get at you, is to talk about them to someone else. It was just really me, trying to get his attention," T-Pain explained of his Las Vegas outburst. "Like, yo, please call me because I've been trying to call you for dang near two months now. I just wanna know if you trying to do this for publicity. Fantastic, let me know that and I'll do it with you. I act like I hate your guts. Just like 50 and Kanye."

Not a T-Pain or Jigga fan, but Jay-Z will shake your hand, but don’t turn around cuz he’ll stab you right in the back. Just ask Dame.

Jay is a pure snake if Nas had a record label going after Jay during the 90’s he’d be the king of hip-hop

I’m a Jay fan but if what T is saying is true I would go in on him. We’re from the South and don’t need New York to rule. Ask 50 what happened when he tried to ride on Rick Ross. That album got pushed so far back, it’s almost in 2007.

….Cause jay TELLS ya’ll to stop wearing jerzees and through on a button up, he tells ya’ll phuck Cristal drink Ace of Spades. If Jay tells YA’LL to stop liking T-Pain, guess what’s gonna happen….Don’t believe me? Go back a few years and see what i’m talking about….

Frame - September 11, 2009 at 4:41 am

Get real, kamaukali. Ain’t no nigga on here could afford Cristal or Ace of Spades anyway. But I feel what ya sayin… Jay’s just got that pull. The only niggas in the game who could really have any impact on his rep are those that have been in deep since the early to mid 90’s, i.e. Snoop, Dre, Nas, etc. Fuck a T-Pain, Game or Jim Jones beef…

Mane I’m from the south and I love southern rappers the most.. I love T-Pain and like some of jay-Z’s songs but he seems to be so arrogant and a back stabber.. He has truly betrayed so many people plus he wouldn’t dare go to war with Nas again because Nas destroyed that ass… Jay is truly an ass… Like the song says ” He’s got a big ego.”LOL

Big Almo - March 11, 2010 at 2:47 pm

What an idiot. Just because autotune is played out there is no need to hate. Jay Z called it like it is. Then again when you got enough idiots to buy shit like that I would be raking int he dough too.
