It was a slow week for releases hitting the top tier of the Billboard 200, but there was a few new releases that did sell a few units.
First off, however, we have the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D., falling three slots to no. 8 with 36,000, while Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night landed at no. 17 with another 27,000 copies sold.
As far as new releases, we see drops from Letoya Luckett, Matisyahu, Queen Latifah, and Hypnotized Mindz rapper Lil Wyte.
Letoya's new album, Lady Love, opened at no. 12, selling 33,000 copies. Then, Matisyahu's Light landed at no. 19 with 22,000 copies sold.
Outside the top 20, Queen Latifah's return to music landed at no. 25 with a total of 18,000 units scanned, while Lil Wyte's latest The Bad Influence sold just 4,900 copies.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending August 30) totaled 5.82 million units, up 2% compared to the sum last week (5.71 million) and down 19% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.15 million).
