It's been more than a decade since the great George Foreman entered a ring, but he's making a return ... vicariously, through his son that is.
George Foreman III is carrying the torch and has his daddy's support. So far, the young son of the former heavyweight champ has fought two professional fights, winning both of them by knockout.
"Think of it," Foreman Sr. told the Los Angeles Times. "Maybe an American heavyweight contender. Been such a long time ..."
"Boxing is such a hard sport," he continued. "You punish yourself. You are always up at the crack of dawn, out running, working. If you had 75 friends when you started, you have seven when you are done."
According to the L.A. Times story, Foreman required that all of his children earn a college degree before even thinking about trying to step in the ring.
Foreman III isn't the first to try boxing though. His sister, Freeda George, was the first in the family to enter the ring. But, fter winning her first few pro fights, mom and dad asked her to stop. In fact, he paid her too.
His son, however, is a different story. But, his decision to box was a surprise since he's considered the brains of the family -- he attended Pepperdine and earned his degree at Rice.
"The girls always thought he was the most handsome too," Foreman said. "He was a big lacrosse player in high school, at Culver Academy in Indiana. He'd walk around with that stick all the time. Kind of a geek."
George III is 26 years old, stands 6'5" and weighs 240 lbs, and has started pro without any previous amateur bouts. Not because he didn't want to, but because anytime a prospective amateur opponent found out he was to face the son-of, he quickly canceled.
He's set to fight next at the San Manuel casino in Highland, California, sometime in October.
Below, you can take a peek at his first fight to see a what George III is all about:
