Miami Heat's Michael Beasley Checks Into Rehab
Published 08/25/2009, by Randall Stevens

Michael BeasleyMiami Heat forward, Michael Beasley, checked into a Texas rehab facility last week, and is being treated for "possible substance and psychological issues," said an ESPN report.

It's said that Heat coach Pat Riley asked Beasley to undergo treatment, and he agreed. And right now, the main abuse concern is said to be marijuana.

The news comes on the heels of some bizarre tweets on his now-closed Twitter account over the weekend. In one tweet on Friday (August 21), he wrote: "Y do I feel like the whole world is against me!!!!!!! Back on my FTW!!!!! I can't win for losin!!!!!!!!!!"

Then on other hours later, he added: "Feelin like it's not worth livin!!!!!!! I'm done."

Things stirred up controversy as well, when a photo was posted of the NBA second man, in which a small plastic bag is seen on an adjacent table. While it appears to be marijuana, it's unclear what the contents were.

It's also unknown if Beasley was already in rehab when the photograph and comments were posted.

How long Beasley's stay in rehab is unknown as well.

Beasley finished his rookie season in Miami as the second-leading scorer behind superstar Dwyane Wade, averaging 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds.

He was the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Last September, Beasley was fined $50,000 by the NBA after security officers at his symposium detected the scent of marijuana in a hotel room occupied by himself, Mario Chalmers, Darrell Arthur and two women. While Chalmers and Arthur were fined $20,000, Beasley received the stiffer fine for trying to hide his presence from NBA officials.

Stay tuned for updates.
