A Riverside, California man has been convicted of killing an aspiring rapper, who he kidnapped and tortured during a robbery.

According to the Desert Dispatch, 21-year-old Dudzai Prosper Pswatai was convicted of murder on Thursday (August 20) for killing an local San Bernardino rapper, who went by the rap moniker Self Sufficient.

The verdict comes after a previous trial ended with a hung jury.

The paper said that the jury deliberated for about 15 hours before finding Dudzai Prosper Pswatai guilty of murder, kidnapping and robbery charges, related to the June 2008 slaying of 24-year-old aspiring rapper (real name: Robert Mastrangelo).

Pswatai showed no emotion when the verdict was read.

He now faces a maximum sentence of more than 102 years, or a minimum of 50 years and eight months to life in state prison. He's scheduled for sentencing on October 19 at the Barstow courthouse.

The victim's family had been in attendence for every hearing, but said the later dates were "more stressful." They are, however, satisfied with the outcome.

"It feels good and I'm happy with the verdict, but we're still missing Robert," Mastrangelo's cousin Catherine Mastrangelo told the paper. "He was one of a kind, and they'll never know what was taken from us. We're going to go visit the crosses that we put up where he was found when we leave here. We stop at them each time we come to court and each time we leave."

Mastrangelo reportedly went to a Pedley garage to buy Ecstasy, but instead was tortured for two days, then taken to a Barstow drainage ditch and shot.

Two other people have pleaded guilty to charges in the case.
