Sean Kingston is trying something new to help create a buzz for his upcoming album, Tomorrow, and it involves putting focus on his fans.
According to Billboard.com, an insert will be placed into the artist's upcoming CD booklet, which will allow fans to create their own karaoke version of one of his songs, which they can later post on his social networking website, SeanKingston.com.
With their computer's webcams. fans can launch "augmented reality" karaoke session on Kingston's Web site. They are asked to record themselves singing "Fire Burning," along with an animated version of Kingston called lil Sean.
Lil Sean gets superimposed on an existing video so that he seems to pop out of the screen, as if it's in 3D, and fans can even choreograph his dance moves. Once finished, they can post them on Sean's site and fans can vote on their favorites.
"It's going to be dope," the 19-year-old musician told Billboard. "No one has done this before. It's different and I think it's going to blow up."
The song is the new single from the upcoming Tomorrow album. At press time, there was no release date for the project. His official MySpace only says "coming soon."
