New releases by country singer George Strait and Neil Diamond led the way on the Billboard 200, but the urban releases are still making an impact thanks the the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell, and the heralded supergroup Slaughterhouse.
The usual suspects continued holding steady in the top spots, the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D. climbed one spot to no. 3 with 45,000 sold taking them closer and closer to platinum sales, while Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night held steady at no. 7 with just over 38,000.
Then, much later down the line was Fabolous' Loso's Way diving down six spots in its third week with 24,000 sold.
And Eminem rounds out the top 20 with 21,000 more copies sold of Relapse, taking him over 1.3 million sold since its release.
As for new releases, the indie released, self-titled Slaughterhouse album did well, landing at no. 26 with 18,000 copies sold. This was done without major marketing or a radio single. The group consists of Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9, Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending August 16) totaled 5.91 million units, down 2.3% compared to the sum last week (6.04 million) and down 19.6% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.34 million).
