Oprah Winfrey is reportedly facing a staggering $1 trillion lawsuit for allegedly plagiarizing an author's work as her own.
According to ABC2News.com, author Damon Lloyd Goffe has filed a lawsuit in District of Columbia Court on July 31 against the daytime talkshow queen and her Harpo Inc. production company for plagiarizing his book A Tome of Poetry in her internet published work Pieces of My Soul.
In court documents, Goffe insists that Oprah event admitted that she used his original works in 2008: "In April 2008 Oprah confessed to seizing original works of authorship."
The author is seeking $1 trillion in damages, claiming Oprah sold 650 million copies of her book online at $20 a pop, so he's owed $1.2 trillion.
Goffe and his legal team are seeking the huge amount in damages, claiming that as Winfrey sold an alleged 650 million copies of the book online for $20 a time, he is owed $1.2 trillion.
At press time, neither party has commented on the lawsuit.
