Chris Brown was due in court Wednesday (August 5) afternoon to be sentenced in his highly publicized assault case against Rihanna.
He's already pleaded guilty, and as previously reported, will be sentenced to five years of probation, and must serve six months of community service ... and the judge wants him to do REAL community service.
According to the Associated Press, a judge has said she wants Brown -- who will likely be allowed to serve his probation in his home state of Virginia -- to do community service work comparable to graffiti removal or roadside cleanup.
Can you imagine driving alongside the freeway and seeing Chris Brown picking up trash?
Update: A judge has delayed sentencing Chris Brown on an assault charge to seek more input from Virginia authorities about whether Brown could do community labor in that state.
The 20-year-old singer pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault on former girlfriend Rihanna, as a part of a plea deal to keep himself out of jail. Coincidently, the deal was reached the day Rihanna was scheduled to take the stand in the trial.
Brown recently publicly apologized for the incident, via a video posted on his website in late July, during which he called the attack "inexcusable" and pledged to do better.
"I saw firsthand what uncontrolled rage can do," he tells viewers. "I have sought and am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again."
Since the now-infamous night, Brown's career has suffered. Some radio stations have refused to play his music, while corporate sponsors such as Wrigley's Doublemint gum pulled their campaigns featuring the singer.
