Rocawear was created by Jay-Z and Damon Dash in 1999, and going on to become one of the biggest urban lines in fashion. Both founders have since sold off their stakes in the company, but when Jay-Z sold his interest for $204 million in 2007, he maintained some authority over the development of products, licensing, and marketing.

I like the look of these dolls. They’re the So in Style dolls – not Barbie herself, but Barbie’s friend Grace who moves away and meets 2 other African American dolls/friends.

I’ve got mini articles about them, photos, and links about them on my PhillyCollector blog, if anyone wants to know more about this series.

These dolls are looooong overdue!!! They’re black and beautiful. Love that they actually look African American, instead of just a brown-skinned version of the white Barbie.

I think the dolls are fabolous. As a American mother it’s nice to see more options on the market. This is a definite buy!

These dolls were long over due. It is about time were some of our leading toy companies to create a doll in the actually image of the black woman. This doll collection has not only recognized that African Americans come in a variety of complexions, but that our facial features are different of our white neighbor’s. It will help build the self esteem of our little girls.
