Mack 10 To Return With First New Album Since 2005
Published 07/02/2009 · By Ronnie Gamble

Mack 10West Coast gangster rap icon Mack 10 is getting ready to release his ninth album, Soft White, for August.

The upcoming album's first single is "So Sharp," featuring Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. In addition to the star power on his single, it boasts an all-star list of cameos, including Anthony Hamilton, J. Holiday, Akon, Birdman, Jim Jones, Jazze Pha, Red Cafe and Glasses Malone, among others.

Mack 10 has had an amazing career as a member of Westside Connection (alongside Ice Cube and WC), a solo artist and as a label owner. He has sold nearly 3 million albums, his first three reaching gold, while Bow Down (with Westside Connection) scoring platinum.

Powered by hits such as "Foe Life" and "On Them Thangs," the Inglewood native staked his claim in the rap game with his self-titled debut in 1995, which charted no. 2 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 1996, Mack 10 joined Ice Cube and WC as Westside Connection to release the hip-hop classic Bow Down, one of the most respected and critically acclaimed albums of the 1990s.

Mack 10's second solo album, Based on a True Story (1997), featured the Top 40 hit, "Backyard Boogie." Since then, he's released six more albums, as well as the reunion album, Terrorist Threats, with Westside Connection.

Now with Soft White, fans will get a chance to hear from Mack for the first time since 2005's Hustla's Handbook. He feels it's a raw and uncut masterpiece.

"I went with that title because this album right here is just raw and uncut, it's just me," he says. "We had fun on this one and I had to bring them all out. I've been smiling all year."

This album is gonna be garbage. He’s gonna have way to many collabo’s on it. What makes it worse is that lil wayne & birdman are faggot rappers & they are gonna be on it.

I don’t think anyone picked up a Westside Connection album b/c Mack 10 was on it. Let’s be honest, now…

Are you serious? Mack 10 actually making something hot? I dont think so. If he wouldnt be for the Game and Snoop proly E-40 too, the west would really be hurting. I’m not hating on Mack 10 or the west coast, but just preaching the truth.
