2009-06-18 - Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D.It was the Jonas Brothers' week on the Billboard 200, topping the list with their latest album. However, the Black Eyed Peas and Eminem continue to move units.

The Peas, who topped the charts last week, fell to no. 2 this week with The E.N.D., which sold 148,000 copies, down 51% from last week's numbers of 304,000.

Eminem's Relapse landed at no. 4 this week, selling another 72,000 copies. After five weeks, the Detroit rapper has sold 1.12 million copies.

Two spots down, at no. 6, is Lady GaGa's The Fame, selling another 47,000 copies, and that does it for the chart's top tier.

As for new releases, The Coup's Boots Riley debuted on the charts Street Sweeper Social Club, landing at no. 37 with 14,100 units scanned; while The Jacka's latest, Tear Gas, sold 5,800 copies to land at no. 94.

According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending June 21) totaled 6.76 million units, up 6.5% compared to the sum last week (6.35 million) and down 18.5% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (8.29 million).

The overall article was about album sales which seem to be doing fine. It looks like we are slowly creeping out of a recession… SLOWLY! I cannot fault the J Bro’s for doing what they do, but beating out the BEP’s is something serious considering they cater to the mass and not the targeted. Go JB’s, BEP’s Lady G, and Em for good sales. (I try not to hate on comments, but the Jonas Brothers???)
