By BallerStatus News Staff ♦ Published 06/11/2009

2009-04-23 - EminemIf it wasn't for a new release from the Dave Matthews Band, Eminem may have held down the top spot on the Billboard 200 this week. Instead, he slipped one spot.

Eminem's latest album, Relapse, slipped to no. 2 this week, selling 141,000 copies in its third week. The album is now nearing the platinum sales mark with 962,000 units scanned.

Down the list, at no. 8, is Lady GaGa's The Fame, selling 47,000 copies.

Latin rap duo Wisin Y Yandel's La Revolucion took a nose dive, landing 11 spots down at no. 18 this week with 23,000 copies shifted.

That's it for the top tier.

As for new releases, the late producer J Dilla's new album, Jay Stay Paid, debuted at no. 96 this week. The compilation disc sold 5,400 units after seven days in stores.

According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending June 7) totaled 6.38 million units, up 10.9% compared to the sum last week (5.75 million) and down 15.6% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.56 million).
