Warren G Readies Sixth Studio Album With Two Street Singles
By Anne van de Sande ♦ Published 06/02/2009

Warren GWarren G is close to wrapping his sixth studio outing, The G Files. All is left is to add the finishing touches and get the word out.

The album is still a work in progress though. However, two new street singles have been released, and are now in circulation. A new G-Funk anthem "Mr. DJ" is already receiving positive reviews online, and the brand new, infectious "Gigolo's Get Lonely 2" is up next.

The G Files, Warren's first album in four years, will feature appearances from Nate Dogg, Bishop Lamont, Ice Cube, Paul Wall, and drummer Travis Barker. The first official single is due to be released soon, called "Swagga Rich" featuring Snoop Dogg.

The Long Beach bred, Grammy Award-nominated, music producer/rapper grew up listening to jazz, soul and funk records, and hanging out at the local V.I.P. record store in Long Beach. He soon pioneered a sound that would take rap to a new plateau. In 1994, G-Funk became a worldwide phenomenon, as the most musical and enduring strain of gangsta rap.

Warren G exploded onto the scene in 1994 with the single 'Regulate,' a duet with long-time friend Nate Dogg. Its accompanying album, Regulate...G Funk Era went triple platinum and peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts. A slew of hit records, and global sell-out tours would follow, and in 2004 saw the reunion of childhood friends, and superstar trio, 213 (Snoop Dogg, Warren G & Nate Dogg), with their album The Hard Way, achieving platinum status.

The G Files is due in stores this fall.

The new single 'Gigolo's Get Lonely 2" will be posted in BallerStatus' In Rotation this Friday (June 5), while "Mr. DJ" can be downloaded here.

Good to see Warren back again, although wasn't his album 'The G Files' supposed to be released about 10 years ago? I remember seeing an ad for it in The Source when I used to read that...

I don't have high hopes for this new album, but it'll be good to hear Nate Dogg again, have these songs been made with him recently does anyone know? after the stroke?

I checked out Warren G's myspace page and wasn't too impressed with the likes of 'Crush' and 'Mr. President', but 'The G Files' will still be an album I cop.

I love Warren but it was Hutch aka Cold 187um that pioneered G-Funk.

Kevin is right. but still Warren G is one of my favorite rappers ever!

Warren has BEEN making hot albums, each one is different but he still keeps the G funk on there.

In the Midnight hour was nice- think that came out around 2005

Return of the Regulator was 2002 and you know the ones before those.
