The 2009 MTV Movie Awards was overrun by vampires, as the cast and crew of the popular vampire film "Twilight" ran away with most of the evening's popcorn trophies.
The vamp film, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, took a bite out of the competition, sucking down golden popcorn trophies for best movie, best fight, best kiss, breakthrough male performance and breakthrough female performance, during Sunday's event ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
In addition to the landslide victories in several categories, the evening also welcomed Eminem back to the MTV stage, where he performed his brand new singles, "We Made You" and his verse from "Crack A Bottle."
However, the performance was overshadowed when a prank was played on the rapper by Sacha Baron Cohen's flamboyant character Brüno. He flew in on a wire, hanging above the audience, dressed in a pair of feathery white wings and his rear end exposed by the presence of a thong. The comedian crashed into an overhead obstacle and was lowered head-first into the lap of Eminem, his bare hindquarters in the rapper's face.
"Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?" he Baron Cohen.
Eminem didn't seem to pleased at all, shouting out "Are you f***ing serious? Get this motherf***er off of me." The rapper members of his entourage roughly removed Baron Cohen, and then Em stormed out of the audience with his entourage in tow while cameras were rolling.
Fans and blogs speculate whether or not the incident was staged. While, according to the Associated Press, Baron Cohen's descent to the audience was included in rehearsals, Eminem wasn't involved in the run through.
MTV and/or Em have yet to comment.
