With the countless number of dance themed films popping up over the past few years, it was only a matter of time before a spoof movie would surface, and who better to do it than the Wayans family?
The Wayans vets (Keenan Ivory, Damon and Shawn) made way for the fam's next generation -- Damien, Damon Jr., and Craig -- this time around for the new film "Dance Flick," doing a good job of parodying prior serious dance films such as "Save The Last Dance," "Stomp The Yard," "Step Up," and "You Got Served" among others.
The film's lead Megan (Shoshana Bush), a white suburban aspiring ballerina who gives up on her dreams of dance stardom, is forced to move to a rowdy high school in the city after an unfortunate run of events. After making friends with a teenage mother named Charity (Essence Atkins) who drags her to a hip-hop club, she falls for an inner-city high school student/dancer named Thomas (Damon Jr.) who inspires her to pick up dance again.
During their hilarious courtship -- including a hysterical dance practice in which Thomas tries to teach Megan hip-hop dance moves (seen in trailers) -- the couple hits a snag, and it's Megan who has to help Thomas get out of a jam, culminating in an outrageous dance battle where two crews go head to head for a huge cash prize.
The entire journey is filled with some of the most outrageously funny spoof scenes of previous dance films -- which is where "Dance Flick" is at its best. At times, however, some of the comedic conversation is a little crude and maybe a little too over the top, but is part of what a parody type film is all about.
With a cast full of Wayans, it's almost like a contest of who will outdo the last person's joke, and is sure to get moviegoers laughing to the point of almost peeing in your pants.

Other funny characters to watch for is Sugar Bear (played by David Alan Grier), a street kingpin who Thomas and his friend A-Con (Affion Crockett) owe money too, as well as Ms. Cameltoe (Amy Sedaris) -- you'll have to watch the film to see what's so hilarious about her character, but you might guess from the name.
Overall, "Dance Flick" is a funny film that shouldn't be taken for more than what it is -- a couple hours of fun.
"Dance Flick" hits theaters on Friday, May 22.
