Q&A With Veteran Los Angeles Graffiti Artist Trigz
By Ronnie Gamble ♦ Published 05/18/2009

TrigzThe folks over at Bay Area based graffit magazine, Clout, recently conducted an interview with veteran Los Angeles graffiti artist Trigz, who is currently serving a six year sentence for his long resume of vandalism across the greater L.A. area.

Check out some of the interview below (via Clout Magazine):

Trigz killed LA with graffiti and crews like MSK and ICR soon took notice. After years of going hard he got caught up. Trigz is currently serving time in Ironwood State Prison in Blythe California. His sentence of 6 years in prison for graffiti was extremely harsh. This is his story.

Clout: What are you locked up for? Tell us the whole story.

I got busted for 12 counts of vandalism. All from the city of LA, North East LA, Burbank, West Los, some CHP freeway sh**, North Hollywood, Hollywood, Sherman Oaks etc. They took the time and built a long case on me. They raided my tattoo shop and they raided where I was living with some bitch. I never got caught with a can in my hand.

Clout: How are you doing in there?

I'm doing cool, I'm actually in the hole and have been for around three months and I'll be in the hole till next year. I just beat a case they were trying to charge me with from in here for a battery with a weapon on an inmate so I'm actually happy about that. I've got some cool homies who have stayed tough for me on the streets which helps a villain keep my head high and my eyes open in this shark tank.

Clout: Buket killed LA but he's out of jail already. Why do you think you got more time than he did?

I think they just built a nasty case on me and I had a criminal history. Being a gang member and having tattoos all over my face and body didn't help. The judge and D.A. weren't feeling me in any way. I've been doing time since 1986 so they were out to break me off some time no matter how or what. F*** Judge Silver punk bitch haha. I've painted with Buket and he was killing spots out there. Respect to all the real gutter grimey vandals.

Clout: There's a lot of kids talking sh** on the internet about you and your style and you're a toy and blah, blah, blah. All I can think of is that they weren't around LA when you were pretty much all city and the sickest crews recruited you.

I LOVE IT!!! I truly do. That's what the internet is for, internet writers and s***as who hide behind a computer screen and talk sh**. While they were talking sh** online I was getting cut by razor wire, hanging off ledges and bridges to catch spots and get my tag on. I got on before 50mm and all that. But if you really don't like someone in the graff game go cap their sh** and handle it. My thing was getting up. I never gave a f*** about style as much as getting up. Give me some silver and black and I'm out to smash the streets of Los Angeles. All I have to say to them is get off the computer and go paint the streets. Don't talk about it, be about it.

Clout: When you were really bombing hard what was a typical night like?

40's and tall cans of Bud Light, drink until our attitudes were all sh**ty. Smoke some Kush, mob LA and just write on anything - walls, tr***s, cars, catching spots on bums or bitches, maybe sock up a few bitch made fools who had it coming, maybe just a fist to the eye Just 4 Fun. I'd barely plan spots to hit, it was really just random drunk spot catching until we were out of paint or the sun came up. I liked to spread spots out from the Valley to West Los to East Los. 5 Fwy, 405, 110, 10, 210, 101. I wanted my crews J4F, MSK, ICR and TRIGZ on everything. I wanted my sh** to be seen.
