DMX Released From Arizona Jail
Published 05/14/2009, by Ronnie Gamble

DMXAfter serving time in jail for a slew of charges, rapper DMX walked out of an Arizona jail Thursday morning (May 14) a free man.

The 38-year-old rapper (real name: Earl Simmons) was released at around 4 a.m. this morning from Maricopa County Jail, after serving a 90-day jail sentence for drug and animal cruelty charges.

The sentence was part of a plea deal in which X agreed to plead guilty to charges of cruelty to animals, possession of narcotic drugs, theft and possession of marijuana, in exchange for the minimum sentence of 90 days.

What the rapper plans to do next is still up in the air.

Rumors surfaced last month that claimed X would appear on the next installment of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab" reality series. However, a rep for the rapper has denied those reports.

In a post-incarceration interview with Arizona's Fox 10 news, DMX explained his downfall, and revealed plans to become a pastor following his jail stint.

"It's gotta me closer to my true calling on life, to realizing... to actualizing my true calling on life, which is to be a pastor," DMX said.
