T.I. Boots Alfamega From Grand Hustle Following Informant Revelation

2009-05-08 - T.I. and AlfamegaFollowing the leak of documents that indicate that rapper Alfamega served as a federal informant in his past, T.I. has issued a statement, in which he ultimately kicks the rapper off his Grand Hustle imprint.

Reading from a prepared statement, T.I. revealed the news over Hot 97 radio airwaves, claiming he was stunned when he heard about Alfamega's background.

"I am stunned and totally surprised by the news about Alpha 'Ced' Zellers," T.I. said. "Even though all our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history, at no time did Alpha never disclose to me or Grand Hustle, which is now appearing in the news.

"He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose information about his past, and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior," he continued.

Earlier this week, The Smoking Gun (TSG) released a smoking gun to rapper Alfamega's career, by leaking damaging documents that show he served as an informant for the DEA, as well as a government witness during the mid-90s.

Court records show that the rapper (real name: Cedric Zellars) began working with law enforcement in 1995 after he was sentenced to just over nine years, thanks to a federal gun case ( a prior felony robbery conviction, the rapper was busted for selling weapons to an undercover federal agent).

For his part in the conviction of a known drug trafficker, Alfmega's sentence reduced by 18 months, and eventually went on to sign with T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint, where he raps about stories of his past criminal.

In the end, with hip-hop's stance regarding a "no snitching" policy, T.I. opted to severe ties with the rapper. However, he said he wishes him well.

"As I've always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions. We at Grand Hustle cannot support or condone blaming others for our own mistakes," T.I. said. "I hope that he prays to God bless his plans, but I don't for see me or my company playing a role in his personal or professional business."

At press time, Alfamega had not commented on the situation.

In January, Alfamega dropped his debut album, I Am Alfamega, featuring the southern smash "Uh Huh" featuring T.I.

T.I. is right. How can a businessman employ a person who is dishonest. Its very possible that this Alpha guy worked hand in hand with the cops in. T.I.’s gun charges.

Wow.BLockbuster news. At the same time, 50 Cent has insinuated in interviews things about T.I. Just speculation but…T.I. is ONLY doing a year for charges which would usually yield a huge sentence. How did he get soo lucky? Just a question that’s all.

Clayton - May 8, 2009 at 5:26 pm

Whoa, there’s somebody with some sense in here other than me for a change. http://www.saybro.info has a point. He cooperated with the feds on somebody else’s drug charge and still did 8+ years; When he was sentenced to just over 9 in the first place. 18 months aint even 2 years, they didn’t take shit off his time. Usually snitches can get some serious time pulled off. He must have snitched on a lower level drug dealer that wasn’t really carrying no weight anyway.
