Oprah Helps KFC Give Away Free Dinner Coupons

2009-05-06 - Oprahy and KFC Want some free KFC? Well, Oprah's got you.

On Tuesday (May 5), the daytime talk show Queen announced -- on her show -- a promotion for a free two-piece KFC meal.

Thanks to a coupon on her site, you can redeem two pieces of KFC's new "grilled" chicken, two individual sides, and a biscuit.

For just two days Tuesday and Wednesday (May 6), KFC is handing out free Oprah-backed grilled chicken coupons, as a part of company's new recipe and part of its new image.

Here's the specifics:

Coupon download available from 9 a.m. CDT on May 5, 2009, to 11:59 p.m. CDT on May 6, 2009. Coupon is redeemable at participating KFC® locations in the United States from May 5, 2009 to May 19, 2009 -- excluding Mother's Day, May 10, 2009.

Thank You so much for giving us a free dinner at kfc. In the way the times are now, this really means a lot. I know some may say its not much, but I believe its a lot that you have done this for us. And i very much appreciate it.

I waited 1hr and 15min and they run out of chicken and they could not give me back my coupon.

What a great idea to spread the generosity to all who may be in need of this offer. However, some stores stop honoring the coupond and stop following the rules as presented on the site.

I am sure some people took advantage of the opportunity, but what a great way to spread a little love and joy.

Oprah isn’t giving away anything. KFC had to pay her almost 7million just to promote this free dinner. All of the cost of these meals are coming down on the franchise owners who most have already been hurting during these times. Thanks to tens of millions of bogus coupons being handed out, what should have been a good promotion has turned into chaos.
