 Looks like the honey moon is finally over. After a little over three years of marriage, Kelis and Nas are headed for divorce.
According to a report from Vibe.com, a rep for the Kelis confirmed the rumors, revealing that the singer's attorney filed papers Thursday afternoon (April 30).
"I can confirm that she has filed for divorce," Kelis' rep told the mag. "We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time."
In the court papers, Kelis (real name: Kelis Rogers) reported cites verbal abuse and infidelity as the cause.
The news comes on the heels of reports that the couple were expecting their first child, which is confirmed in the court filing posted at Vibe.com, stating that Kelis' due date is July 21.
Nas and Kelis first met at a 2002 VMAs afterparty, and have been together ever since. After two years of dating, the pair finally tied the knot during a small ceremony in Atlanta in 2005.
In March of last year, rumors began circulating about a separation. While this has not been confirmed, it's safe to say it may have been the beginning of a problem.
At press time, Nas had not commented on the divorce.
