It's no secret Soulja Boy Tell'em has endured his fair share hate ever since he hit broke into the mainstream with his hit single "Crank That."
Today, however, the 18-year-old rapper is laughing all the way to the bank, especially after proving he isn't gonna fade away into oblivion as a one-hit wonder. No, his two most recent singles, "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" and "Turn My Swag On," even landed within the top positions of the Billboard charts, and proved Soulja Boy is a force hip-hop critics can't deny.
Despite all his success, all the hate remains. But, the young rapper realizes that aspect of his career will never disappear.
In a recent interview with Rolling Out, Soulja Boy addresses his feelings toward the negativity his rising profile attracts.
"You're always gonna face different chapters that you go through in life, period. Haters come with whatever job you and whatever you doing in life," he said.
He brushes them haters off his shoulders though. In fact, he's done more than that. According to the rapper, he's ended the careers of those who opposed him.
"I outshined all my haters," Soulja Boy claims. "I done had beef with a lot of different artists. A lot of different artists had a lot of different opinions about my music, but at the end of the day, it's gonna take a whole lot to stop me. I done ended a lot of n****s' careers, you feel me?"
"Before I get out the game, I'm gonna cause hell," he added.
Later in the interview, Soulja Boy is asked who his favorite rappers were growing up. With a southern upbringing, you'd think regional acts like Three 6 Mafia, or even UGK would be among his influences. But surprisingly, he names Eazy-E.
My favorite old school rapper is Eazy-E. I used to listen to Eazy-E a lot when I was little," he revealed. "I get down with Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Dre, Notorious B.I.G., but just my favorite all-time, out of everybody, is Eazy-E."
