Notorious DVD

"Notorious," the hard-hitting and controversial biopic that captured the life of The Notorious B.I.G., is slated to arrive on Unrated Director’s Cut and Unrated Director’s Cut Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray and DVD next week.

At the box office, the film performed well during its opening weekend, grabbing the #4 in mid-January, raking in $21.5 million, proving to be more popular than expected beyond African American audiences, according to Chris Aronson, Senior VP at 20th Century Fox.

The film's star, Biggie Smalls, went from Brooklyn street hustler to one of the greatest rappers of all-time, refusing to succumb to expectations and redefining the notion of "the American dream." Twelve years since the rapper’s tragic death, "Notorious" follows his meteoric rise to fame and provides a rare glimpse at a different side of the acclaimed artist -- from his surprising child years as a Catholic school honor student, to an imprisoned drug dealer, to the hip-hop sensation he has become today.

Directed by George Tillman Jr. ("Soul Food," "Men of Honor") and produced with the help off former manager Wayne Barrow, his mother Voletta Wallace and executive produced by Sean Combs, "Notorious" features performances from an ensemble cast including Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett as the rapper's mother Voletta, newcomer Jamal Woolard as Notorious B.I.G., Derek Luke as Sean “Puffy” Combs, Anthony Mackie as 2Pac, and Naturi Naughton as Lil Kim.

Featuring over 90 minutes of bonus material, the "Notorious" Unrated Director’s Cut Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray and DVD are both highlighted by an Unrated Extended Cut of the film, and includes behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, the casting, never-before-seen footage of the real B.I.G. and film maker commentaries.

The Unrated Director’s Cut Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD will be available for the retail price of $39.99 and $34.98 respectively, while a single-disc DVD will also be available for  $29.98.

The DVD hits stores April 21. Pre-order your copy at Amazon.com
