With his sophomore album, Guilt, in stores now, New York rapper Mims stopped by to chop it up with BallerStatus, and give us some album exclusives.
Here, the rapper describes two joints on his new album he's most proud of -- one is called "Rock 'N Rollin'" featuring indie juggarnaut Tech N9ne, and "Makin' Money" featuring Red Cafe.
According to Mims, his collaboration with Tech N9ne is something he loves to do -- something unexpected.
"What I love about ['Rockin 'N Rollin'] is that it's a different record for me," he tells BallerStatus.com. "It's not something that you would typically think of me being on, which is what I love to do. I love to push the envelope. It's also a record for all my rock n roll heads, all my rock n roll connoisseurs, all my people that love rock n roll music.
"I got a wide audience. I got a lot of diversity. When I perform at a show, I see a lot of different people in the crowd, whether it's a 'backpack fan,' or a dude out there with a mohawk and skull-n-bones. I think this record is dope," he continued.
The next track on deck is the bragadocious "Makin' Money," featuring Konvict Muzik's Red Cafe. Mims calls this track his "show off" track.
"Obviously, people always love for me to show off lyrically and do my thing sometimes. So, I gotta lean. I lean on you ... I lean on em," he says. "I gotta remind ya'll from time to time, I am from New York City. When you cats hating, don't think I am."
The first official single off Mims' new album is a track titled "Move (If You Wanna)," while the second is "Love Rollercoaster" featuring LeToya Luckett.
