As previously reported, the First Lady Michelle Obama would be immortalized as a wax figure in Madame Tussauds wax museum, and now that day has come.
According to CNN.com, the world famous Madame Tussauds unveiled their wax figurine to adoring fans on Tuesday (April 7) in Washington, and all the hype that has surrounded the Obamas since moving into the White House was in full effect during the grand opening of the exhibit.
Michelle's figure appears alongside her President hubby Barack, which was unveiled in February 2008.
"The dress that she's wearing today is inspired by the purple dress that she wore the night that her husband clinched the nomination," museum spokesperson Shameka Lloyd told CNN.com.
The wax figure was started in late December. However, Michelle did not pose for the artists. Instead, they used several photos and video photos to bring the wax representation to life.
"The hardest thing to capture is the essence," Lloyd said. "Every time you see Michelle Obama walk into a room, she just kind of takes the oxygen out of the room. She's so fashionable, she's a loving mother, loving wife, so we really hope that we capture that essence of a first lady."
Of all the fans who came to see the unveiling, most everyone felt the Madam Tussauds artists were dead-on, capturing Michelle's likeness to a "T".
Michelle Obama is just one of only three first ladies to be immortalized by the wax museum. The other two are Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Hillary Clinton. Lloyd told CNN that they decided to make the figure because of the high public interest in Michelle.
After adding President Obama, she said that museum visitors kept asking, "Where's the first lady?" Well, now she's there, alongside Barack.
