As Pharrell's indie pop duo, Chester French, gear up for their debut album Love The Future via Star Trak/Interscope Records in late April, the Massachusetts bred band have recorded a free mixtape with popular mixtape DJ Clinton Sparks to get current and future supporters ready for them.
The mixtape, titled Get Familiar with Chester French -- Jacques Jams Vol. 1: Endurance, includes new and exclusive material that will tell the story of one of the most anticipated groups of 2009.
With nothing but a handful of instruments and some weightlifting equipment, members D.A. and Max holed up in the woods of Western Massachusetts and created a collection of original tracks -- all written, arranged, produced, and engineered by the duo. Unlike their upcoming album, which includes no guest artists, the mixtape features collaborations with an unprecedented roster of eclectic artists, including Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Pharrell, Janelle Monáe, Bun B, Talib Kweli, The Clipse, Cassie and Solange.
Get Familiar with Chester French isn't your traditional mixtape wherein a DJ chops up a bunch of new records and throws them on a CD. Clinton Sparks once again has taken mixtapes to a new level, complete with skits and interludes that humorously get you familiar with Chester French's story, from Max and D.A.'s freshman year at Harvard to their signing with Star Trak after hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye West competed to sign them in a huge bidding war throughout the industry.
The new mixtape is available as of Monday (April 6) for free, via their official website at ChesterFrench.com/mixtape.
Also on the website, fans can see behind the scenes footage of studio sessions, photos, the band's performance with Paris Hilton and Clinton Sparks, and the mixtape's cover shoot at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Chester French's official debut, Love The Future, is due in stores April 21.
