An aspiring rapper's life was cut short over the weekend, when his apartment burst into flames and he was caught in the blaze.
According to MLive.com, Ohio-based rapper Nas-D (real name: Nasir Ahmad Dooley) died Saturday (March 28) from severe burns suffered in an apartment fire in Columbus, Ohio. He was just 32 years old.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that the blaze started from an accidental kitchen fire that occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was caught in the fire and suffered second- and third-degree burns over 97% of his body.
He was rushed to the Ohio State University Medical Center's burn unit for treatment, but died later that day.
Nas-D was a Muskegon High School graduate, and moved to Columbus, Ohio four years ago to pursue a career in music. According to MLive, he was a gifted piano player, and had a devoted fan base in West Michigan.
He is survived by two children, Nasir Jr. of Muskegon and Naja MaKayla of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Dooley-McGowan of Columbus.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by J. Martin Smith Mortuary in Columbus, Ohio.
