L.A.’s DJ Hideo Diaignosed With Cancer — Friends Throw Benefit Concert
Published 03/28/2009 · By Ronnie Gamble

DJ HideoPopular Los Angeles based disc jockey, DJ Hideo, has been diaignosed with stage four colon cancer, and in support of their friend, several industry folk and friends have joined forces for a concert to benefit his fight against the life threatening disease.

Pegged the "Best of the West" Benefit Concert, the event will take place on Thursday, April 9th, at The Mayan in Los Angeles. There is a minimum $20 donation for cover.

The concert will feature some Cali vets, as well as rising new comers to make up for the money. Among them including Dilated Peoples, G. Malone, Hot Dollar, Defari, DJ K-Sly, Spindrella, and Mr. Choc just to name a few.

Throughout the years, DJ Hideo has carved a name for himself within the Los Angeles music scene, through his many accomplishments, not only in music, but also within the community. Aside from his various positions at 100.3 The Beat, DJ Hideo has also developed special projects locally and internationally.

Most recently, he was been traveling back and forth to Tokyo, Japan performing at various nightclub venues. "It's great to be able to bring the West Coast 'party atmosphere' to a country that can barely speak our language ... We communicate through the hip-hop culture, music and turntablism," Hideo said of the trip.

Via the site PrayForHideo.com, his battle with cancer was announced. He was hospitalized in mid-February, and was released later in the month. Hideo has undergone chemotherapy, and has since been resting at home, trying to recover.

Fans have been leaving the DJ encouraging messages on his website, and his camp says he's been reading them daily and is "thankful" for the support.

The upcoming concert will help Hideo in his fight against cancer. But if you're not in Los Angeles and would like to make a donation, that can be done through PrayForHideo.com.

The BallerStatus.com team sends our prayers to Hideo, and urge others to do the same.
