Former Detroit Lions top draft pick, Charles Rogers, was sentenced to 30 days in jail on Tuesday (March 24) for violating the terms of his probation in a domestic violence case.
According to DetNews.com, the 27-year-old former first round NFL draft pick failed yet another court-ordered substance abuse test and decided that a special court for drug and alcohol offenders was not for him.
Novi District Judge Brian MacKenzie ordered him back to Oakland County Jail for 30 days, but was given a 15 days served credit.
In court, Roger asked the judge to be released out of sobriety court. It seems he preferred jail instead of toughing out the 18-month sobriety court and its rules and regulations until June.
DetNews.com reports that court documents said Rogers was caught falsifying records earlier this month, stating that he attended Alcoholic Anonymous meetings, one of the several conditions bestowed upon him by sobriety court. However, he's been attending regularly since December.
In addition to testing positive for an unnamed substance, he also tested positive for use of alcohol.
