Chris Brown Officially Charged With Two Felonies, Police Docs Detail Fight
By Allen Starbury ♦ Published 03/05/2009

Chris BrownIt's official. Chris Brown has been charged with two felonies, in connection with the February 8th alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna.

Following nearly a month of investigation, the 19-year-old R&B singer has been charged -- by the Los Angeles Country District Attorney's office -- with assault and making criminal threats.

His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday (March 5) afternoon.

The news comes as the couple reunited over the weekend in Miami, and rumors emerged of Rihanna refusing to press charges against Brown and even chatter of marriage.

The couple were involved in an altercation on February 8th, after leaving a pre-Grammy party during early morning hours. As a result of the incident, Rihanna was left bloodied and bruised. Brown, on the other hand, was booked and subsequently released on a felony charge of suspicion of making a criminal threat to a woman.

According to police documents, the fight started (as previously reported) after Rihanna saw a text message from another woman on Brown's phone. Who that woman was is still up for debate.

Brown then pulled over the rented Lamborghini he was driving and tried to push Rihanna out, but she was still wearing her seatbelt. So, he then pushed Rihanna's head against the window, punched her with his right hand, and then continued driving while hitting her, and even bit her on the ear, the affidavit states.

According to USA Today, the affidavit was filed as part of a search warrant request for the phone records of Brown, Rihanna and her assistant.

Los Angeles police Detective De Shon Andrews describes Brown's attack as so severe that he caused Rihanna's mouth to fill with blood. He also wrote that Brown tried to choke Rihanna after she took the keys to his car away, and then states that Rihanna nearly lost consciousness but also tried to fight back while in the car, at one point trying to gouge at Brown's eyes.

If Brown is convicted, he could face anywhere from probation to four years and eight months in state prison.
