Prince Partners With Target For 3-Disc Set
By Allen Starbury ♦ Published 03/03/2009

PrinceLegendary singer Prince announced a partnership with Target Monday (March 2) to release his new album of music recorded without the backing of a major label.

According to Reuters, the album will be a three-disc set, two being original studio albums called LOtUSFLOW3R and MPLSoUND, and a third disc titled Elixer by his latest protege, singer Bria Valente.

The full set will retail for $11.98 at Target.

Prince is the latest artist to partner with the retail chain, following albums released exclusively through the store from rock band AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Bruce Springsteen, and Christina Aguilera.

In recent months, Prince has sought to showcase his latest material, premiering songs for a Los Angeles radio station and on the Internet, reports Reuters.

This isn't the first time Prince has strayed away from the norm, releasing music in ways other than through a major label. In 2007, his album Planet Earth was with British newspaper The Mail on Sunday.
