Not many hip-hop and R&B debuts this week, but there's some movement on the charts. While country singer Taylor Swift makes her way back to the top of the charts, others are also climbing and some making their debut splashes.
This week veteran R&B singer Charlie Wilson's album Uncle Charlie opened at no. 2 with 58,000 sold. His previous set came in 2005 -- Charlie, Last Name Wilson debuted and peaked at no. 10 with an opening week of 71,000.
Climbing her way up to no. 5 from no. 12 last week is Beyonce and her album I Am ... Sasha Fierce with 41,000 units scanned. Jamie Foxx's Intuition also climbed. It went from no. 14-6 with 33,000 this week, whileIndia.Arie's Universal Republic set Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics fell to no. 7 this week after debuting at no. 3 last week, selling 32,000 copies.
At no. 8, with 32,000 copies scanned, is Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak, while Lady GaGa's The Fame peaked at no. 10 to close out the top spots.
Much, much later down the rankings is N.A.S.A. whose release Spirit of Apollo opened at no. 179 selling just over 3,000 copies its opening week. The album features the likes of Kanye West, Kool Keith and Scarface.
According to Billboard.com, sales are down 13.3% compared to last week and down by 7% compared to the same week in 2008.
